چکیده

Chelation reactions of the antimitotic drug, 6-amino-purine (adenine; abbr. ADN) with the metal ions: Be ( I I ) , AI ( I II ) , Cr ( I I I ) , M n ( I I ) , Fe ( I I I ) , Co (II ) , N i ( I I ) , C u ( I I ) , P b ( I I ) , and U 0 2 ( I I ) have been investigated in aqueous solution at 3 0 ° using B j e r r u m C a l v i n pH titration technique. The formation constants have been determined at various ionic concentrations, and have been extrapolated to zero ionic strength to get the thermodynamic values of the constants.

The Stabilising and Chelating Effects of Green and Roasted Coffee Extracts

ABSTRACT: Oxidation might be regarded as one of the most important reaction in oils and fats. Prooxidants namely iron and copper intensify and catalyze the oxidation while the chelating agents might retard or delay this process. Citric acid, phosphoric acid, some of phenolic compounds and phospholipids are considered as the compounds that chelate the prooxidant metals and through this mechanism...

TETRA-N-BUTYLAMMONIUM FLUORIDE AS A NOVEL REAGENT FOR THE PREPARATION OF ACYCLO-NUCLEOSIDES. THE SYNTHESIS OF 9- [(2-HYDROXYETHOXY) METHYL] ADENINE, BITAMYCIN.

The synthesis of the title compound, bitamycin, by means of BU4NF is described. This new antiviral drug was found to be one of the most powerful and least toxic substances for antiviral therapy in man. The physical and chemical behavior as well as the antiviral activities and clinical properties of this compound were found to be significantly different from that reported by Schaeffer, et a...

Iron chelation via deferoxamine exacerbates experimental salmonellosis via inhibition of the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase-dependent respiratory burst.

Competition for cellular iron (Fe) is a vital component of the interaction between host and intracellular pathogen. The host cell requires Fe for the execution of antimicrobial effector mechanisms, whereas most bacteria have an obligate requirement for Fe to sustain growth and intracellular survival. In this study, we show that chelation of host Fe in vivo exacerbates murine salmonellosis, resu...

Iron homeostasis affects antibiotic-mediated cell death in Pseudomonas species.

Antibiotics can induce cell death via a variety of action modes, including the inhibition of transcription, ribosomal function, and cell wall biosynthesis. In this study, we demonstrated directly that iron availability is important to the action of antibiotics, and the ferric reductases of Pseudomonas putida and Pseudomonas aeruginosa could accelerate antibiotic-mediated cell death by promoting...

Does the magnesium(II) ion interact with the alpha-phosphate of adenosine triphosphate? An investigation by oxygen-17 nuclear magnetic resonance.

The binding of Mg2+ with adenine nucleotides is an important problem in enzyme-catalyzed phosphoryl transfer reactions. The previously used 31P chemical shift method has been shown to be inadequate to define the chelation pattern of the Mg2+ complex with adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) [Jaffe, E. K., & Cohn, M. (1978) Biochemistry 17, 652-657]. The center of controversy is whether the alpha-pho...
